Hi, welcome to Nurtured Family!  My name is Sarah and I'm a homeschooling, urban homesteading mama of two incredible children, plus several pets and farm critters. My focus is to educate, encourage, and consider aspects of intentional, intuitive hands-on parenting and holistic alternative education.  Slowing down and realizing the interconnectedness of family, community, nature and real foods, along with a nod to independent do-it-yourself skills and traditions are some of my passions and hobbies.  I've earned a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education as well as K-3 and K-6 teaching licenses in two states. I have 27 years of experience working with children as infant, toddler and preschool teachers, substitute teacher, assistant Montessori teacher, reading tutor, nanny, home childcare business owner, and homeschooling parent. I also run three small food and pet-based businesses. Being a mother has solidified my true callings and perceptions.  I owe much of this to my amazing husband who continues to inspire me to be honest, genuine, and above all, believe in myself.  Our lives are truly in our own hands with every passing generation.
